Chicago Youth is held every Friday during school term from 7pm-9pm. It is open for kids and teens from year 6 up to year 12 fo a time of hanging out, enjoying food and fun together. The dedicated Youth Space is accessed from the downstairs carpark, under the main building.
Winter saw the renovations down in the Youth Space continue, having brand new floorboards installed thanks to a very generous donor, a new hand-dryer installed in the youth bathroom and some fresh new games tables including pool, air-hockey, foosball and arcade basketball hoops. A massive thanks once again to the Men’s Shed for their continued support in making our youth space one which teens are excited to invite their mates to on a Friday night. Also, a shout out to Lucinda for driving the acquisition of our new games tables which the youth have loved.
Anyone that wants to go a bit deeper and learn more about God is invited to join our bible study beforehand at 5.30pm. Our “Beasts of the Bible” sermon series was a huge success, with multiple youth making commitments and re-commitments to following Jesus. We’re excited to continue our “broad-lens” approach of unpacking the Bible at youth as we move into our “ELEMENTS” series this term, exploring the scriptural themes of Fire, Light, Wind and Stars which emerge throughout the biblical narrative.
A deeply, heart-felt thank you to our faithful leaders; Lucinda McKee, Thomas Groves, Mark Wilson & Alex Jones who continue to love, uphold, and shepherd our youth with a servant heart of Christ.
